Thomas L. Akers, 80, of Noblesville, passed away January 6, 2018. A graduate of Lawrence Central High School, Tom worked for Joe O’Malia Food Markets for more than 25 years before retiring. After retiring he became very involved in the marching band program at Noblesville High School. Tom was a big sports fan, especially of the Chicago Cubs, Indiana Pacers, and Notre Dame football. Tom was preceded in death by his father, Virgil V Akers, his mother, Valeria V Akers, and his brother, Richard Akers. He is survived by three sons: Michael T Akers (Lisa), William P Akers (Diane), and John D Akers; and nine grandchildren. Calling will take place at Indiana Funeral Care, Harry W. Moore Chapel, 8151 Allisonville Road, Indianapolis, from noon until 1:00 on Tuesday, January 16, with a memorial service to begin at 1:00 pm.

    Akers, I’m so sorry about the loss of your amazing dad; he was a fixture in my marching band years! When I think back to marching, he will always be part of my memories. Huge hugs to you, man.

    I’m so sorry for your loss. Your father could always be counted on to help whenever and wherever he was needed for our high school band years. Obviously he cared about you a great deal and all of us as well.
